Dear Silver Hill Community,
I hope you all are having a nice weekend! The beautiful weather continues which is nice for outdoor recess!
Speaking of recess, school is well underway and students have transitioned back so well. We recite the ROARS pledge every day during announcements and all staff speak with the students about expected behaviors. We ask that you please talk with your children about the recess / playground expectations as well:
Staff review appropriate playground rules daily and we want all children to have fun. Due to the Consentino construction, we temporarily have less room to run around, so it is even more important that students follow the rules and play nicely and safely. Thank you for your help with school rules and academics!
Kindness Challenge Kickoff! On Friday we held an assembly for grades 1-4 to announce the start of our Silver Hill Kindness challenge! All staff will keep a tally of students’ acts of kindness, and if they reach each month’s goal, they are rewarded! This month they are working to earn an extra recess! As we like to say, “If you can be anything, BE KIND!” 🙂
Fire Drill – We also had our first fire drill this week, and the students did a nice job of exiting the building quickly and quietly! We will practice these drills throughout the year, with and without the fire department, to ensure we are ready in case of an emergency.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Donna Martin, Principal

As part of the District’s 1:1 initiative, every Haverhill Public Schools student receives a HPS-issued Chromebook. HPS offers the opportunity to protect school-issued devices for the school year by paying a Device Waiver Fee. As outlined in the HPS Student Technology Device Policy, this $20 fee will help to cover the costs of potential damage, repair, or loss for the school year for the assigned device. Please note: issues of theft should still be reported to the police.
The Device Waiver Fee is available for purchase throughout the school year.
