The Week Ahead: October 30, 2017

October 30, 2017

Dear Silver Hill Families,

In the spirit of the season, tomorrow October 31, will be Orange and Black Day. If you have them, wear your spirited colors!

MCAS 2.0 student reports will be mailed home this week for students currently in grades 4 and 5. The reports for students currently in grade 6 were mailed on Friday.  The reports include a summary of how to interpret the scores, but please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail if you have questions. My November 15th Coffee with the Principal will also be a presentation on MCAS 2.0, and I’ve attached the flyer here.

I recently sent an e-mail regarding no shorts in school after Columbus Day. I believe this is a SHHMCS rule from several years back. But… some students have had some very convincing arguments as to why they should wear shorts, including the heat in the school. It may not make any difference with the recent change in the weather, but I’m relaxing this rule and leaving it up to parent’s/guardians’ discretion until it’s just too cold! With weather like today, I hope that’s not coming up soon!

I hope everyone stayed safe during our first “Snow/Weather Day”.

Margaret
