Weekend Update: January 2, 2018

January 2, 2018

Dear Silver Hill Families,

Happy New Year! 2018 will be remembered as the year that started out with frigid temperatures and another Super Moon!  As a teacher, one of my favorite books to read was Owl Moon, written by Jane Yolen. I was even lucky enough when my own two boys were much younger to have a chance to actually hear an owl in our backyard during one very cold full moon night. An adventure we still remember! If you have never read the book, tonight would be the perfect time to start off the new year with a new reading adventure!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfw98BpkKXQ

With these cold temperatures, we want to be sure that all children are dressed appropriately. Although we will not be going outside unless it is 30 degrees, even coming off the bus can be brutally cold.  We like to keep extra clothing at school just in case. I will be putting up our hat and mitten tree, and if you have any extra hats, mittens, and gently used boots and snow clothing, they are always greatly appreciated!

I wish you all a new year filled with good health and happiness, and lots of fun learning adventures!

Margaret
