Jaguar families,
Wow… Is it hot enough for everyone? We wanted to let you know that in accordance with Dr. Marotta’s email to the community, we have some of the most creative teachers in the district and will do our best to make sure your little ones are comfortable over the next few days. With that being said, please make sure your students are hydrated, dressed appropriately and are as comfortable as possible, it’s going to be a scorcha! I loved the suggestion to have students freeze a water bottle, if you can, and use them throughout the day. We have outdoor tents and some great shady spots on our property to conduct classes outside if possible.
i-Ready Diagnostics
We will assess the students this month. We are planning on having them two different sessions for each subject. Reading diagnostics will be this week on June 7th and 8th. Similar to the MCAS test, our cherubs need to be ready to roll at school…
To help prepare your child for the i-Ready Diagnostic, encourage them to:
- Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.
- Try their best on each question and try not to rush.
- Try not to worry about questions to which they do not know the answers—remind them that it is expected that they will only get about half of the questions correct.
- Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.
- Use paper and pencil to show work for math questions.
If you have any questions about i-Ready, please do not hesitate to contact me or the school. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.
Summer with Haverhill Public Schools
The Haverhill Public Schools is committed to helping children learn and grow during the summer months. Traditional summer programs attempt to minimize the learning loss and “summer slide” that comes with missing two months of instruction. The Haverhill Public Schools continues to expand its summer offerings, supplementing our traditional academic programs and a variety of hands-on enrichment programs with a strong focus on social/emotional development.
Please see the variety of programs that we offer outlined below. Most are at no financial cost. Programs start and end on different dates/times and are subject to change. Please feel free to contact the school with any questions.
Stay cool and don’t forget to read to your students 20 min a night. Thank you and have a great week.
Mr. Parker
Asst. Principal
