Dear Silver Hill Kindergarten Families,
I am so thrilled to be part of the Silver Hill Community this year, and looking forward to starting my first year at Silver Hill along with your kindergarteners as they start their first year as well! We will do much learning and have a bunch of fun together! 🙂
Please find below some important information as you and your child get ready for the start of the school year, and please feel free to reach out to Ms. Marino, Assistant Principal (tracey.marino@haverhill-ps.org), or Ms. Sanchez, Principal Clerk (sara.langlais@haverhill-ps.org), or me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Open House
There will be an Open House for all incoming students K-5 on Monday, August 29, 2022, from 5:00-6:30 pm. We look forward to seeing everyone as we kick off the new school year!
***The first day of Kindergarten is Wednesday, September 7th!***
Kindergarten screening
Incoming kindergarten students participate in a screening prior to school beginning. This is an opportunity for the staff to get to know your child. Children will work with a staff member one-on-one while a family member completes important paperwork.
Beginning the week of August 15th you will be able to sign up for a screening appointment using a SignUp Genius link (see below). The week of August 22nd, families will receive a phone call from a staff member to schedule a kindergarten screening appointment if they have not done so using SignUp Genius. Screenings will be held August 30, 31, and September 1 and typically last about 30 minutes.

Social Stories
We know sometimes the transition to kindergarten can seem overwhelming for some children (and parents/caregivers)! To help ease the transition, a social story was created so that the students will be able to have some familiarity with the school before the first day. Please review the social story with your children – there is one version in English and one in Spanish – they are both attached.

Backpacks
All incoming Kindergarten students will receive backpacks from LL Bean, compliments of Children’s Healthcare. Please see the attached flier with all of the information from this exciting donation!
