2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR
Happy Sunday! I hope you all are having an excellent weekend – it is certainly chillier than last weekend! Winter is coming!
Although I try to practice it year round, this season more than any inspires me to focus on gratitude. I have so much gratitude that I am part of the Silver Hill Community! I am thankful for the students, staff, and families, and impressed on a daily basis by the kindness of all. It brings me joy to see the children puzzling through a new concept in class, greeting each other happily in the hallways, and excitedly answering their teachers’ questions. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Safety Reminders:
- At Car Drop Off in the morning, please do not drive around the car in front of you! Children may be exiting the car on the passenger side, and could potentially be hit by a car driving around. We work to have the Car Drop Off go as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your care and cooperation.
- When you enter the building, please do not let in anyone else who was not identified and buzzed in with you. We need to be aware of who is entering the building at all times. This happens frequently when children are tardy and dropped off between 9:00-9:30. Please help us stay safe and account for all who are in the Silver Hill School building.
Attendance Contest – Starting the Monday after Thanksgiving, we will be having an attendance contest for the 25 days of school between Thanksgiving and Winter Break. All students who come to school on time will get to fill out a raffle ticket daily and we’ll have drawings for Amazon gift cards on the 23rd!
From Nurse Kelli – Vision and hearing screenings will continue through the month of November. If your child wears glasses, please be sure they are wearing them to school to avoid unnecessary vision screening referrals, and so they are ready to learn! Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Grade 5 Band Update: Tuesday, December 6th – Beginning Band Silver Hill/Consentino and Consentino Advanced Band students (as well as the Consentino Chorus and The Bucketheads) will present their first indoor concert since December 2019! The concert will take place in the Consentino cafeteria. The concert will begin at 6:30, and should be completed by 7:15.
Take care and be well.
Sincerely,
Donna Martin, Principal
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR AWESOME GRADE 5 MATH TEACHER MS. NEIRA!!!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION REMINDERS FROM MR. MURPHY
Sneakers Reminder
I am seeing more more students wearing Crocs and slides (flip-flops) in gym class . Students should be wearing sneakers on PE days and Crocs and slides are not sneakers and it is unsafe to be wearing them during PE. Also, any students that need sneakers can see me for sneakers whenever they feel comfortable to do so.
Jaguars on the Prowl – I am still looking for students to bring in some photos of them being active and healthy outside of school. This could include anything from sports, organized activities, dance, martial arts or just going for walk, bike ride, or hike with friends and family. I can also print photos if they are emailed to me.
Let’s all work together to be healthy and active outside of school! 🙂

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
For Elementary/PreK/K School Parents:
Showing up matters for R.E.A.L because it is an opportunity to:
- Build Routines
- Increase Engagement
- Provide Access to resources
- Support Learning
Routines: Daily attendance routines can reduce stress, increase your child’s self-confidence, and lay a foundation for good attendance in later grades.
Engagement: Participation in school helps your child connect with other children and adults and get excited about learning.
Access to Resources: Schools can give you access to meals, physical and mental health care and other supports, and fun enrichment activities (sports, clubs, music, afterschool, and summer programs, etc.).
Learning: Children learn best from hand-on activities and through meaningful interactions with their teacher and other students.
A reminder that it is very important for your child to be on time to school each day! Please reach out to your child’s teacher or school adjustment counselor if you need any support with getting your child to school.
