Jaguar Journal 06-09-24

Dear Silver Hill Community,

I hope you all are well and enjoying the weekend. A reminder that the last day of school, Wednesday, June 12th, is an Early Release Day with dismissal at 11:35 am.

With only 2 1/2 days remaining in the school year, I’d like to say THANK YOU to all of you for your wonderful children – we love seeing them and working with them every single day!!! Thank you also for attending events, volunteering, and contributing to the school community. It is a goal of the School Site Council, as well as the faculty, to have more parent and family involvement at Silver Hill. Please look for further opportunities next year – we are better when we all work together!!!

From Nurse Kelli – Please plan on picking up your child’s medication from the nurse, including epi-pens and inhalers, before the end of the last day of school.

Chromebooks – Students will be bringing home their chromebooks and chargers this week to keep at home for the summer. Please help your children keep them in a safe place so that they can be returned to school in the same condition in the fall. Thank you!

Bus Passes – Teachers will be collecting bus passes this week as they need to be returned to transportation by the school. New bus passes will be issued for summer school, and then again in the fall. If your children’s bus pass is at home, please be sure to have them bring it in.

Summer Reading!!! – Summer provides a wonderful opportunity for students and families to enjoy great books together! The goal of the Haverhill Public School summer Reading Program is to foster a love of reading. Reading over the summer can also help students to maintain, or even improve their reading skills. In order to meet the needs of each students’ reading skills and interests, the Haverhill Public School Summer Reading lists contain a variety of genres and culturally diverse books at various reading levels. Our lists are identified by grade levels in order to help families choose appropriate books for each child this summer. Please feel free to have your child read any books that interest them though! Here is the link to the lists: https://www.haverhill-ps.org/2024-summer-reading-lists/

Summer Discovery ClubThere are still openings in the Discovery Club summer program for elementary and middle school students who are not required to attend another summer academic program. The link above will take you directly to the application page on our website, where parents will find the application in multiple languages. There is one application for grades K-12.

When parents choose their child’s grade, it will bring them to the appropriate part of the application. All Discovery Club enrichment programming will be in the morning. There will be NO extended-day Discovery Club programming this summer.

Lost and Found – The Silver Hill Lost and Found is HUGE! Please stop by our lobby to claim any lost items. It will all be donated at the close of the school year.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing Summer!!!

Sincerely,

Donna Martin, Principal
